A perfect example of the myopia associated with reactive/situational decision making is the story of a man walking down the sidewalk, and upon seeing an object in his path, makes the decision to go around it. He steps off the curb and is hit by a bus. Clearly when we make situational decisions without first considering available relevant information, we gamble at higher odds. Organizations can often benefit by widening the field of view of managers at all levels, and re-focusing it to reflect business goals within thoughtful process. This can be effective for individuals, teams, cross-departmental, and beyond.

True this is! My employer and management are clueless when it comes to process.
